You are the expert in your own life.
Our Philosophy
What’s going on with your mental health is only one part of your story. Your physical health, relationships, work, identity, and past experiences are all part of the picture. Your whole, uncensored story is welcome.
We take the time to understand what’s going on before deciding what comes next. Sometimes that means asking more questions, talking with your other providers, or connecting you with additional resources and support outside of Pivot.
Ultimately, our role is to help you find what works for you and make sure you have what you need to do life for yourself.
Because good care should leave you trusting yourself more than when you arrived.
What this means for you
Care with Pivot feels different.
We won't rush to an answer. There is room to keep asking questions.
Medication isn't automatically the next step. We’ll talk about whether it makes sense for you.
A diagnosis doesn't become your identity. It's information that can help guide care.
Changing your mind is allowed. Care can evolve as your life, needs, or understanding changes.
The Pivot Story
Pivot started with a belief that psychiatric care could be better.
Before starting Pivot in 2021, Brea Di Dato spent more than 20 years caring for people in critical care, oncology, family medicine, and community health. Again and again, she saw how ineffective it was to separate mental health from physical health and everything else happening in a person’s life.
When Brea moved into psychiatry, she encountered another problem: a system that often rewarded short appointments, high patient volumes, and quick medication check-ins. She knew that wasn’t how she wanted to practice.
Pivot grew out of the belief that there should be another option, one where clinicians have the time to understand the people they care for, where mental and physical health aren’t treated in isolation, and where decisions are made with clients, not for them.
